Yes and no.
Long story that I'll make short (since I'm sure I told it on this site at least 1 time before).
Back around 2008 (or so - I remember the year because I was in my rental house that I moved into in May 2008) I saw what looked like a bright star (but distinctively shaped like a triangle to my naked eye) with a halo around it.
I went to get binoculars and by the time I got back outside the "triangle" point of light was gone and only the halo remained, then dissipated. Nothing about it resembled anything known in the night sky - not plane lights, or a planet, or a star, or a meteor, etc.
Later that week I was on the Internet looking to see if anyone else saw this UFO.
Turned out other people on the upper east coast had seen it.
It was reported on news sites that some base in Virginia had conducted some kind of missile test and people as far north as New York state saw the remnants in the sky.
So it went from unidentified to identified.
