Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain
Agree with Battlefield Earth for sure. My most revolting experience in a theater: Andy Warhol's Frankenstein in 3D.

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring???

What the...
It does contain a tremendous amount of unsimulated animal killings and torture. These days it's not a film I'd watch at all.

For me, I think the worst films I've seen are those that are truly soulless. Chloe Love is Calling You is an overtly racist film with bad acting, and The Mount is a half-hearted torture porn film with a charming first 15 minutes that lull you into thinking it might be worth watching.

The Guy Who Sees Movies
Worst movies I've ever seen? That's an interesting question. Given that movies exist for our entertainment, delight, education or whatever, it seems like the worst movie is one that made no impact for better OR worse . I've seen most of them in markdc's list, but I remember those, especially ones like Battlefield Earth or The Room, which had a lot of notoriety. I actually PAID to see The Room in a theater, out of curiosity. The theater was busy that night.

My list would be nothing. The worst movies I've seen are ones I forgot, and would not recognize even if they're ON somebody else's list. They would be like the 1957th iteration of Law and Order or a 1993 sitcom that only lasted for 5 episodes.

What makes the animal killings in Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring truly abysmal is they go against the Buddhist teachings against harming animals that the film attempts to put forth. It's similar to Cannibal Holocaust in that its hypocrisy causes its points to fall apart completely. And since the Buddhist teaching is the primary focus of the first segment, there's basically nothing else to latch on to (aside from some pretty shots here and there, but even the serenity wore away amidst the insincerity of its themes), which makes the opening a
at best. If you torture an animal to death but then make a half-assed attempt to make it seem like you're opposed to that act, well, I think that action speaks for itself. That said, I did enjoy the rest of the segments quite a lot (aside from the final segment, which suffers from the same flaws), so I have the film at a
, overall. That might be a notch too high though.

Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring...I've seen people call this the most serene, relaxing beautiful movie they've ever seen. That really makes me wonder if people see what they want to see.

Yeah, those movies aren't worth hating.
But I do remember the biggest disappointments, the ones that were surprisingly awful.

Aguirre, The Wrath Of God
Blade Runner
Interview With The Vampire
Angels & Demons
The Go-Between
War Of The Worlds (original)
Death Wish

Mon Oncle
Spider-Man 2
Gore Gore Girls
America's terrible attempt at Godzilla '98
X-Men Last Stand

But DID they manage to save Snail???! Will we ever find out?!

I'd like to ask if I Spit On Your Grave refers to the original or the remake (or both)?

I'd agree that the original (1978) was just 70's fluff: virtually no substance, but the remake (2010) was all about the cleverness of the revenge - every revenge killing was somehow related to what each of the specific perpetrators had done to the victim. It was focused on ironic justice and the creativity of the victim to cause her tormentors to reflect directly on what they'd done to her before their ultimate demise (the original lacked any of that). So I thought the remake was a huge improvement.

P.S. Again, someone doesn't like Armageddon? Last month someone listed it as one of their top most "boring" movies.

I decided not to use films I've seen through MST3K because that felt like cheating vis they were making fun of them the whole time and it distracted from the actual film.
