So, I mentioned in a previous post that there are several horrible remakes out there that I have not seen, which was quite simply because I had no interest in them. Here are some that I never plan to sit through.
The Fog - I didn't even care that much for the original. Moving on.
Prom Night - The original was just okay in my eyes, and when I heard that there was going to be a slasher remake that was aimed at younger audiences, I passed.
The Eye - You mean to tell me that China's scariest movie ever was redone in English with Jessica Alba?
Psycho - Ignoring the fact that this had Vince Vaughn playing the infamous killer, people have told me that they copied the original shot by shot. What's the point of that? Speaking of which...
Quarantine - Seriously, Hollywood, didn't you learn your lesson with Psycho? Plus, I heard that they changed the origin of the zombies to something more scientific and cliched. Meh.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - For a while, I wanted to see this after I heard that Doug Jones was playing Cesare, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Later on, I started listening to some of the comments people had to say about the film, and I suppose it's better if this one stays buried.
A Nightmare on Elm Street - The trailer looked terrible, and everyone who saw it said that it was terrible. So I didn't watch it. Easy enough.
Night of the Living Dead 3D - Sadly, this isn't the only Night of the Living Dead reboot to come out in the past ten years. It isn't even the only one in 3D. I managed to make it about an hour into Reanimation before I figured out that I was wasting my time. Don't watch that movie unless you want to see Jeffrey Combs and Andrew Divoff talk about politics for 90 minutes. Also, someone dreams about someone else having sex with a corpse. To all of the up and coming horror filmmakers out there, stop trying to recreate what George Romero already did. Tom Savini has already done that, and you're not Tom Savini. Try actually being like George Romero when he was making that movie and create something that's based off of your own idea. Except for you guys who made Mimesis; keep doing what you're doing.
