Switching from song to song right now.

This is death doom metal perfection. Steels' percussions are the standout, but the atmosphere, repeating riffs and genre-bending are all perfect. Goes into slight black metal territory in the middle section. This is probably my favorite doom track of all time for its artistry.

Godspeed You Black Emperor - "NO TITLE AS OF 13 FEBRUARY 2024 28,340 DEAD" (2024)

Always an enjoyable time when GYBE releases a new album, although this nice and charming album is still nothing compared to their early giants.

So The Smile has a new one out, right? Heard their first two albums a while back, I go to their frontpage on RYM, and I see the names Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood. I went months without knowing they were a Radiohead spinoff, and now I feel disappointed in myself.

Going on a John Cale marathon today. Tomorrow it's a Nilsson marathon. Need some more baroque pop in my system. And I DRASTICALLY have to focus on other genres. I just found that I've got over 300 metal albums in my top 1400, which means more than 1 for every 5. So I'm going to work on some top 100's for extra genres. I'm planning on going down my top 100 albums and focusing on whatever genre I don't have a top 100 for. My number 2 is Pet Sounds, so baroque pop it is. But I'll also take the time to explore the artists in question, so it'll take a little longer for each genre.

So it turns out, I'm way more behind on baroque pop than I thought I was, and it's getting a little daunting, so I'm gonna slowly work on it while focusing on another genre I've been meaning to thoroughly explore: synthpop. I've been jamming on YMO today.

Continuing my synthpop / new wave binge, I am now on step for of my chronological exploration of Charly Garcia: Part of a Religion. The last three albums were kick-ass, but this one takes the cake. It's exactly what I want in terms of variety and consistency. This might even make my top 500.

You ready? You look ready.
