The Upcoming Musical Biopics Thread

You read it right.


So what are your most anticipated ones? Me, I am stoked for A Complete Unknown, James Mangold's film about Bob Dylan and starring Timothee Chalamet. Also, I heard Scorsese's doing a Grateful Dead movie. That is all kinds of cool.

Karma Chameleon, one about Boy George. Hm.

We got a title for Ridley Scott's BeeGees biopic (what the f, it's Ridley?) You Should Be Dancing.

So we got a new cast member for the Michael Jackson film: Kat Graham as Diana Ross. I don't know much about Kat Graham, but I;d like to see how much Ross plays into the film.

I imagine a movie on the making of Rumours would be quite bitter. I saw a Classic Albums episode on that, and they were all breaking up with each other romantically. It's a miracle the BAND didn't break up.

Nat King Cole's biopic featured Colman Domingo, who'll be playing Joe Jackson in Michael.


There's also the possibility of a KISS movie, Shout It Out Loud, and Scorsese looks to be working on not just a Grateful Dead one but a SINATRA one.

So now Allen Hughes is doing a Snoop Dogg biopic, and the Death Row Records label is directly involved, making their first ever film. Cool.

As well, Jon M. Chu is planning on directing a film based on The Woman in Me, a memoir by Britney Spears.

Just gonna throw this out here: B.J. Novak as Lou Reed? I'd watch that.
