Best Movie of 2024 So far?

I went to see this in the theater and it had gotten booted that day for a Thursday Preview of one of the crap movies like Godzilla x Kong or something. I was sad.

The Bib-iest of Nickels
I was disappointed with the ending of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. It was quite underwhelming, but I liked the world-building.

Longlegs and A Quiet Place are definitely on my watchlist!
I absolutely adored Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and I thoroughly enjoyed War, (I also enjoyed Rise, but, tonally, Dawn and War are closer to Kingdom) and so, I think, maybe, I had mixed emotions heading in. I was worried that Wes Ball wouldn't do as well as Matt Reeves and I didn't know if they'd be able to capture the same lightning in a bottle as the Caesar story. For me, Kingdom stuck the landing, but was definitely weaker than any of the previous trilogy in my opinion. I hope that it can build itself up though.

I liked Late Night with the Devil, probably the film of 2024 that I gave the highest rating to so far...and there are only three months left in the year, which is mind-blowing to me.

My updated top 10:

1. Inside Out 2
2. The Substance
3. Blink Twice
4. Conclave
5. Wicked
6. Anora
7. A Real Pain
8. Daughters
9. The Santa Class
10. Child Star

It's between Challengers (might be my favourite Sports movie in decades) and The Substance (We counted the days for Coppola, but this is the true movie event of the year imo).

The Brutalist can't arrive sooner though...

I liked "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" (2024). It is a prequel to the acclaimed "Mad Max: Fury Road," delving into the backstory of the formidable Imperator Furiosa, portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy. The film offers a high-octane narrative filled with intense action sequences and expansive world-building. Chris Hemsworth's portrayal of the antagonist adds depth to the storyline, though some critics have noted that the film's relentless pace can be overwhelming. "Furiosa" provides a deeper understanding of one of the franchise's most intriguing characters, making it a worthwhile watch for fans of the series.
