The Screen Actors Guild awards announced their nominees and there are tons of snubs and surprises. Wicked leads with 5 nominations, including a surprise nod for Jonathan Bailey. Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis were both nominated for The Last Showgirl. Nicole Kidman (Babygirl) and Angelina Jolie (Maria) both miss. Also Denzel Washington (Gladiator 2) and Guy Pearce (The Brutalist) were snubbed for supporting actor. And although Demi Moore was nominated for The Substance, her co-star Margaret Qualley was snubbed. Wicked, A Complete Unknown, Anora, Conclave and Emilia Perez were the best ensemble nominees.

What does this mean for Oscars? Anora gets a needed boost after being shut out at the Globes, earning three SAG nominations, including ensemble. The Brutalist takes a hit, missing ensemble and both Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce. Is it still the frontrunner for the Oscars? I'm not so sure. Wicked and A Complete Unknown over perform. A Complete Unknown seems locked for multiple Oscar nods now. Emilia Perez does as well as expected, holding steady in the race. Sing Sing underperforms, missing ensemble and supporting actor. It will likely miss best picture now. Best actor seems locked with the five nominated here. The other acting categories feel very up in the air. Some of the actors who missed today can still get Oscar nods. It will be interesting to see what happens.
