I think this is a pretty good combo. I'm not the most in tune with Levinson, but he's had some well-received and even iconic hits, and of course I'm obviously curious about one of my favorite actors in a dual role. Having said that, I DO wish De Niro wouldn't always be typecast as mafiosos and branch out a little more than he generally does, but hey. I hope it turns out well.

Yeah, on the surface it sounds a little peculiar with De Niro in the two lead roles. I guess the two Mafia bosses look fairly similar. Who knows what they'll do with him. He's back in familiar territory.

And being written by Nicholas Pilieggi, it could be quite a tale. Long way off...

Barry Levinson has not had the most impressive batting average in the 21st Century, but he is a good filmmaker. And based on his previous Mob movie, 1991's Bugsy, which I feel gets forgotten more than it should in that era of great crime flicks, there is certainly potential.
