OCT. 23 | Movie Gallery has sprinted up the ranks of the 2002 Forbes magazine list of the 200 Best Small Companies in America. The nation's No. 3 video retailer placed 50th this year, up from 193 in 2001.
"We are pleased to be recognized for the second consecutive year by Forbes," Movie Gallery chairman and CEO Joe Malugen said. "We believe both our historic growth and our prospects for continued growth spring from our strengthening position as the leading video specialty retailer in North America's rural and small markets."
Forbes considers public companies with revenue between $5 million and $600 million, with rankings based on profitability, growth and stock price strength.
Others on the list include videogame publisher THQ Inc. at No. 68, Macrovision Corp. at No. 121 and Pixar Animation Studios at No. 162.
