The Expendables 3

I don't get these movies. I mean, I'm more than capable of enjoying the kind of movie these want to be. But everything feels like a pale imitation of that. The one-liners aren't particularly funny, even in a hyper-self-aware, goofy way (there are 2-3 decent ones per movie, I suppose). And it actually isn't ridiculous enough most of the time. Meh.

I watched the first because I thought it'd be fun, and it felt like a first cut. I watched the second because someone gave me a copy and I heard it was a little more ridiculous, but it felt the same way. Think I'll skip the third, if and when it happens.

Young Skywalker. Missed you, I have...

What did you expect. They were written by Stallone. When I think about the original scripts I imagine them written in crayon..... I did enjoy the movies though. I like watching s**t explode and/or catch fire.

Miss Vicky's Loyal and Willing Slave
Mickey Rourke is back in The Expendables 3

Action legend Sylvester Stallone took to twitter last night to drop a few names and provide some update on The Expendables 3. Among his major reveal is the return of Mickey Rourke. Rouke originally appeared only in the first Expendables as Tool, the recruitment liaison and armorer for the team as well as their tattoo artist. His strong performance in his role bought a surprising emotional depth in an overly macho action flick.

In other related news, Wesley Snipes is totally game to "fight to the top again", as Sly puts it, while he remains cryptic on Antonio Banderas and Jackie Chan possibly joining the action ensemble film. Sly also mention that he has been scouting locations in eastern Europe and Asia.
And on terms of which action films might influence the making of Expendables 3, he tweeted "Thinking about Raiding, THE RAID....think about it..." and that "We believe we can do better than the RAID, which was an excellent film... Raising the bar..."

EDIT - Oops sorry Rodent, you beat me to it. Had the page opened up and sitting here for a while, at which point you had not yet replied

Sit Ubu Sit.... Good Dog
Looks like Milla Jovovich might be in this pointless sequel as well so theirs my reason for watching it.

‘Expendables 3′ Woos Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nic Cage & Milla Jovovich As Lionsgate CEO Talks Up Plans !

Production of the action movie is due to begin in August and the studio is in “advanced negotiations” with Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nic Cage and Milla Jovovich, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told analysts this morning. In other production news, the exec says that four episodes of Anger Management will air on Fox in June. And Lionsgate has begun to shop a TV sitcom starring Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammar. “Nearly every network will hear the pitch in the next few weeks, and we have a high degree of confidence” that it will be on the air next year, Feltheimer says. Execs also say that they believe they’ll find conventional TV outlets that will be willing to syndicate Orange Is The New Black. The studio is producing the action-comedy for Netflix, which plans to introduce it July 11. “It is uncharted territory” in a business where productions typically go from TV networks to digital, not the other way around, Lionsgate Television president Kevin Beggs says. Still, “these lines are blurring” and “we’re pretty confident about this reverse windowing.”

The Bib-iest of Nickels
I like to think of The Expendables series in the same way that I think about the Grown Ups series. Grown Ups is filled with a bunch of comedians, many of which made one or two movies that I actually enjoyed, however, lately a lot of their movies have been horrible. If bringing them altogether for one big movie every couple of years keeps more "That's My Boys" and "Jack & Jill" movies from being released, so be it. You can easily tweak that a little bit and get my thoughts on The Expendables.
