Speed (1994)

The plot to this film is perfect, a bomb on a bus will explode if it goes under 50 mph. Boom, there's your script. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock do a fantastic job in their roles. Only things that bugged me were the ending and the villain; the villain's motives aren't really explained that well and the ending was so corny and cheesy that it came off as cringe worthy. A solid film never the less.

8/10, a very high 8 to be precise.

Are you going to do a general ranking of his work after you've finished?

Impressive achievement, by the way!

@the samoan lawyer:

Glad you loved it! It's also one of my favorites.
I will post his complete filmography and the ratings when I am done. IDK if I will rank them though.

1976 was one hell of a year for film!

-Network
-Taxi Driver
-Bad News Bears
-All The President's Men
-The Outlaw Josey Jales
-Marathon Man
-Rocky (can't believe it won, good, but as great as others)

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

You're forgetting (or simply don't know) tons.

My top 1976:

1. The Fifth Seal - Zoltán Fábri
2. Cría cuervos - Carlos Saura
3. Face to Face - Ingmar Bergman
4. Keoma - Enzo G. Castellari
5. Carrie - Brian De Palma
6. The Outlaw Josey Wales - Clint Eastwood
7. Tenant - Roman Polański
8. Twenty Days Without War - Aleksei German
9. Leo es pardo - Iván Zulueta
10. Wieczór u Abdona - Agnieszka Holland

Dog Day Afternoon (1975) - Sidney Lumet

Perhaps the best film about the hostage situation.

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane (1962) - Robert Aldrich

Precisely the kind of thriller I love...It obviously reminds one of "Misery" and Kathy Bates was better than Bette Davis even if marginally...

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) - Tomas Alfredson

Precisely the kind of suspense that I don't like...so many names, characters, plots - sub plots and situations...I lost track...guess I am getting old

Yojimbo (1961)

Another smash by Kurosawa. Although I've seen two remake/reworkings of this film and loved them, this theme never gets old to me: Lone fighter wanders into warring town and sets both sides against each other, does the right thing for once and catches hell for it, then recovers and pays them back. Although I've seen him in a handful of films including two Kurosawa movies, this performance by Toshirô Mifune I think is my favorite so far. I love how, for most of the movie, he doesn't have that trademark Mifune scowl on his face. He looks, by turns, jovial, laid back, bemused, bored...then finally angry. There are lots of interesting characters in the movie, but I liked Gonji, the tavern keeper, and Inokichi, the fat, uni-browed doofus the best. Lots of great dialogue that hearkens to the future Fistful of Dollars and Last Man Standing. My favorite bit of dialogue is Mifune's, " I'm not dying yet. I have to kill quite a few men first." The directing by Kurosawa is tight, and the music by Masaru Satô is great.
My third winner in a row watching Kurosawa.

Glad you liked Dog Day Afternoon but disappointed you didn't enjoy this, I can understand why, but I think it's an excellently crafted film.
