Unlike the other two years where I spent October watching movies relating to Halloween(Suspiria, House, Phantom of Paradise, The Devils, etc), this month I was in the mood to watch more Japanese anime movies as I am starting to develop an interest in these types of movies. I only watched six movies this month with only three of them being anime. After falling in love with Kiki's Delivery Service, I want to see more! These movies included:
Talk To Her(started at end of September and ended at start of October)
Persepolis
Belladonna of Sadness
Princess Mononoke
Kiki's Delivery Service
Onibaba
This movie made me smile from start to finish as I was watching it. While watching this movie, I felt relaxed as I watched Kiki and her adventures in the town that she moved into. Usually, I dislike when a movie gets mean-spirited with the characters, but Kiki is the farthest thing from it and is a very welcoming, heartwarming, and friendly movie.
This is probably because I adored all of this movie's characters from Jiji, Osana, Tombo, and especially Ursula. I love watching the scenes where Ursula and Kiki are enjoying each other's company, especially the relatable scene where Ursula is helping the witch regain confidence in her magic. Her statement says that sometimes she feels she can paint but sometimes can not remind me of how I feel about my guitar playing. Sometimes I feel like a master while other times I feel like I am terrible at the guitar.
Lastly, the soundtrack of this movie is beautiful. I especially love the flute solo that is played when Kiki is at Ursula's cabin. I even fell asleep with some of the music still humming in my head. I find it disappointing that Cocomelon gets viewed by kids around the world while most kids nowadays have not seen Kiki's Delivery Service. I think all little kids should see this one as it is very enriching for not just them but also for adults as well. I will be watching Kiki's Delivery Service many more times(don't overplay it) and will be showing my children this movie too.
