Wicked

Ohhh, I did not know there will be a sequel to Wicked. Now I'm even more excited.
It isn't a sequel in the traditional sense, it's just that they took the story from the stage musical and they decided it was enough material for 2 movies.

If they want to expand the world of Oz or get everything on stage on the screen, it's probably the best choice to make two movies. We don't want a Hamlet situation for a musical that may easily be safe for kids. On top of that, I'm interested in the movie for the sake of the classic. I currently consider the one we know and love to be the best film of the 30's that I've seen, at least I believe so because its effects, music and acting hold up by today's standards while still carrying classic-era charm, so there's a part of my that's interested in the slight possibility that another Oz movie could stand with it. I mean, we get a new Oz every couple yeats\\rs. :P

Fun featurette

I was looking forward to this movie, but am very disappointed to see THE star of the show make such a crazy out-of-touch comment about the presentation of her character on a movie poster.

The movie's called "Wicked", named after your character, "The Wicked Witch of the West". How are you allergic to a movie poster portraying your character and the central theme of the ****ing play it is based on, in precisely the same manner it has already been advertised for YEARS?

You staring expressionlessly into the camera is just so obviously OBJECTIVELY WORSE than pulling the hat down and smiling, how in the **** does someone like this land a part when they can't even PLAY THE ROLE OF A STILL IMAGE???

So very, very excited about this movie

I am not really interested in seeing this. For me, prequels are for the most part, a waste of time. We all know the Wicked Witch of the West's final fate, and she is a baddie then. This whole idea of showing how she becomes evil and trying to make us root for her is not something I want to see.

In "Hannibal Rising" we are shown how he became the cannibalistic serial killer, but in such a way that we are supposed to root for him. I'm sorry, but as it was horrible what happened to him as a child, it still does not make me root for him, considering what he does later in life.

It was like the three "prequels" to Star Wars. Everyone knows that Anakin Skywalker wouldn't die in them, and neither would Obi-Wan Kenobi, so the tension that could have been present due to NOT knowing their fates was gone.

To those who choose to see it, I hope you enjoy it.

I saw Wicked today (in 3d). This was a spectacularly entertaining ride that defied gravity! Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are both excellent and the songs are wonderful. The sets and costumes are fantastic. I predict Wicked will get 6-8 Oscar nominations and win 2. Wicked is one of the top 10 films of the year for sure.

Definitely one of the best adaptations of a Broadway musical in recent years

What did you rate it out of 10 and where would you rank it compared to other films this year?

How does it compare to Cats?

Wicked is better than Cats. I enjoyed Cats, but it was messier and flawed. The direction is stronger in Wicked, performances are better and the overall quality is higher and more consistent. Wicked is more of a traditional crowdpleaser that most people will enjoy.

I don't know what Ervino is going through if it's an eating disorder or cancer. But she looks like she's in bad shape...when you are skinny one standing next to Ariana Grande that's...oof rough.

The movie was good..it'll get a ton of Oscar nominations

The movie just scored an A on Cinemascore
