Films after which you felt like crap

I make no promises and am open to the possibilities. I like to watch movies people recommend, especially when the subject matter interests me. It'll be a couple of weeks. I'm usually good about posting my thoughts on the Last Movie Watched thread on here, although I may have forgotten you recommended it before then.
If you’re interested in Holocaust movies, I could recommend more.

I don't actually wear pants.

Let's start with Grey Zone and work our way towards more later.

No problem. Just let me know. I’ve spent the better part of three decades reading about the Holocaust and watch most Holocaust movies that I can lay my hands on. I’ve reviewed another Holocaust movie on this site.

SNOW WHITE REMAKE WAS SOO HORRIBLE FELT LIKE CRAP
I haven’t seen the new Snow White, but given everything I’ve heard about it, it appears to confirm my view that Wokeness ruins everything, especially books and movies.
Btw, I once came across a quote from Rachel Zegler, the star of Snow White, that struck me as odd: “I just mean that it's no longer 1937, and we absolutely wrote a Snow White that's not gonna be saved by the prince, and she's not gonna be dreaming about true love. She's dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true. And so, it's just a really incredible story for young people everywhere to see themselves in.”
The reason why that quote struck me as odd is because Hollywood already made that live-action Snow White movie; it was called Snow White and the Huntsman. That was a good movie. I’ll bet it’s a lot better than the new Disney version.

Sounds like a good plan. I did request Grey Zone except it's not due back until April 19... Maybe offer up one or two? There's no guarantee the library will have them but I can look.

April 19 you say? That’s interesting. April 19 was the day the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising began. It just so happens that I posted a review of Jon Avnet’s TV movie about the 1943 revolt:
https://www.movieforums.com/reviews/...-uprising.html

I would also recommend these films. It might be better to do a short list in case some or most of them aren’t available in your library system:
1.Defiance
2.Europa Europa
3.Inglourious Basterds
4.Jacob the Liar (1974 East German version directed by Frank Beyer); stay away from the 1999 American version starring Robin Williams)
5.The Pawnbroker
6.The Pianist

I've seen Defiance, Inglourious Basterds, and Pianist. I found Jacob the Liar on Kanopy. And the library has The Pawnbroker and it's readily available so I sent a request for it.

I’m not surprised that you saw those three. They’re fairly popular. I’m sure very few Americans have seen the East German version of Jacob the Liar; if they’ve seen any version, it’s likely the crappy American version with Robin Williams. Forgot to mention that you should watch Uprising, the movie I reviewed. I should warn you that The Pawnbroker is fairly depressing. Not as much as The Grey Zone but more than Schindler’s List.

I'll check out the East German version first. I can look for Uprising too. We'll see how Pawnbroker goes. It needs yet to get to the library, which only takes a few days.

I look forward to your opinion on all these movies. There are a number of Holocaust movies that I need to see. For example, I’ve never watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Heard that was good. Also haven’t watched The Book Thief, but I heard that sucked.
Btw, if you haven’t seen it, stay away from The Reader. It’s pretty dumb.

Trouble with a capitial 'T'

I would like a bigger list of your best or most powerful Holocaust movies, if you could post them that would be great. *I did see your above post, some good choices there!

Have you seen Night and Fog (1956)? That one will make a person feel physically ill.

A few that haven't been mentioned:

Sophie's Choice (1982)
Escape from Sobibor (1987 - made for TV movie)
Triumph of the Spirit (1989)
Life is Beautiful (1997)
Bent (1997)
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (2008)

No films have made me feel like crap and I have seen some truly disgusting films.

There are films where i walked out of the theatre crying but i didnt feel like crap.

I saw Night and Fog in high school. The only scene I remember was of some guy bulldozing a bunch of corpses. Pretty disturbing stuff.
Here’s a list of all movies I’ve seen that deal in any way with the Holocaust or Holocaust survivors. An asterisk next to a movie’s title means I didn’t like it. But if you’re interested in watching Holocaust movies, don’t let that dissuade you. Just because I didn’t like a certain movie doesn’t you wouldn’t like it.

Watch Shoah...9 1/2 hrs of Holocaust.

The Guy Who Sees Movies
I saw this with my mom. She had to watch it for its depiction of PTSD.
Oh yeah. That unfortunate guy was about as psychologically scarred as a human can be and still be able to function somewhat.

The Cremator is another excellent Holocaust-set movie bound to make you feel like scum afterwards. It's a Czech New Wave movie with an all-time great performance by Rudolf Hrusinsky.

Watch Shoah...9 1/2 hrs of Holocaust.

I saw some excerpts from Shoah in my college Holocaust class. I don’t think I could watch all 9.5 hours.
